The Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Marathon runs beyond the borders: already over 360 foreigners runners

7 novembre 2023

It will be a Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Running Festival under the patronage of the Protection Consortium

Sunday 3 December in Vidor over 1800 runners, and almost a thousand will arrive from regions outside Veneto

What will be held on Sunday 3 December will be a real Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Running Festival. An event that will feature not only the 13th Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Run but also the eighth Conegliano Valdobbiadene Bollicina and the first Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Marathon and which has already attracted important foreign attendance. In fact, over 360 runners will arrive from foreign countries to participate in the Tri Veneto Run event in Vidor (TV) and will be distributed across three routes of 10, 21 and 42 kilometres. Not just a race but a real promotion for the beauty of the UNESCO Heritage Hills and also for its main product, the Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore Docg. A communion of intent between organizers and the territory (with its bodies and associations) to correctly promote an area and a product of value now recognized throughout the world as a true excellence. From this year, alongside the organizers, the Consorzio di Tutela del Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Docg will also take action (which thus joins the Veneto Region and the association for the Heritage of the Hills of Prosecco of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene as sponsoring bodies of the event).

“With a view to promoting our territory and in compliance with the regulations in force linked to the denomination of the Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore product, the title of the event starting from this 2023 edition is updated to “Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Running Festival” which will act as a container of the three races and the collateral events – comments the president of Tri Veneto Run, Francesco Sartori – we strongly believe in the potential of this event which is particularly appreciated outside the Veneto region and beyond our national borders. And we are convinced that by joining forces the excellence of our hills and of the Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Docg can be conveyed even better. We are very satisfied with the important participation of foreign athletes and groups arriving from different regions of Italy”.

“We are honored by the large participation of athletes from overseas, synonymous with the attractiveness of our hills in the world thanks to their charm”, comments the President of the Consorzio di Tutela del Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco DOCG, Elvira Bortolomiol. “We are grateful to the organizers for having positively and promptly accepted our comments regarding the name of the event. In general, the Consortium has started a monitoring and control action on all definitions used by third parties to name events, demonstrations, promotional initiatives or communications that take place in the Conegliano Valdobbiadene area and use the word Prosecco. The Consortium has promoted a dialogue with the promoters of these events to ensure that, if organized within the boundaries of the Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco denomination, they correctly recall the denomination in their name.” concludes the President.

Registrations have already exceeded 1800 and foreigners runners represent the 20%. The phenomenon of groups organizing themselves, often with private coaches, to spend a weekend in the Treviso area has also intensified. The most numerous at the moment come from Lombardy, Emilia Romagna and Austria. There are 25 foreign countries represented (with members also arriving from other continents, in addition to Europe, such as the Americas, Africa, Asia and Oceania). The Italian regions with the most members, apart from Veneto, are Lombardy, Emilia Romagna and Tuscany, with 43% of Italians coming from outside Veneto. Women represent 42% of the total registered participants in the three distances: this is a very high percentage and well above the average for running events.
